Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed visits Newcastle Men’s Shed
Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed visited our shed on 31/03/2016, this visit hightlighted the men’s shed movement should be all about, visiting and sharing of information and socialising with others.
Grahame from RTMS arranged a bus trip of about 25 members to visit both Newcastle and Belmont Men’s Shed and discuss subjects such as men’s shed business etc. The visitors were welcomed and shown around the Newcastle Men’s Shed (part of the lower ground floor of old BHP Administration Building). Many stories were heard of times spent working or attending the BHP facility during their working life
After a short visit and collecting a goodies’ bag from Newcastle Men’s Shed they returned to the bus and continued on their trip to Belmont Men’s Shed. After they left Belmont Men’s Shed, they took the “bushy’s short cut” via Caves Beach and Green Point to Valentine Bowling Club for a bistro lunch then skirted the lake travelling home.
Thank you to young Ted’s for the photos, above recording the visit. Ted turns 91 in a couple of weeks and is very active in the Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed.
An invitation for a return visit to the Raymond Terrace Men’s Shed, was extended to all our members.

The Newcastle Men’s Shed was approached to design, develop and then to manufacture some boxes to display the books in local facilities around Lake Macquarie. After a couple of false starts, a design was settled on and the shed went into production. The Shed manufactured 20 off these display boxes and they have been presented to the Paint the Lake REaD committee at a meeting on 30th September 2015.

The Newcastle Men’s Shed was approached by Courtney from Tubes4Boobs with a view to make some of the 80 trophies required for this event. The members of the Newcastle Men’s Shed saw this as a very worthwhile charity to support. They actually manufactured the 80 cut outs in two days.
The Newcastle Men’s Shed is proud to be involved with this local event. The “Tubes4Boobs” is organised to raise funds to support the Pink Ribbon Cancer Council Appeal. The event is to be held on 3rd & 4th October 2015 at Dixon Park Beach.
Sunday 4th October is a fun filled day for all with “The 3 Peas Markets” hosting over 60 great stalls including rides, music, good food and local arts and crafts.
